aerialphoto > April 6 '09 - snapshot of the beach this morning, waiting for the temps to drop from 85-90 to 63 by tomorrow (lows around 40). Winds kicking up to 30mph. Stay off the dunes or you're sure to meet up with a few eager cactus plants!

aerialphoto > 1/22/09 - The Twinkie. Today I carried a Twinkie to 13000ft (unpressurized). Unless the seals are broken, small packets of food always expand out and "pillow". The Twinkie expanded out into a nice hard pillow but didn't burst. The Twinkie remained intact and unharmed until it became a yummy snack moments later. Never fear, they'll make more.
Here's another view
aerialphoto > 1/13/09 - The beach, in the rain. 58°, drizzle, rain showers, damp. It all means I might get a break from my 3+ weeks of hay fever.

aerialphoto > 1/3/09 - Garmin Hell! - after flying an hour I noticed I'd lost weather data on my Garmin 496. Tried to fix it on the ground with no luck so I brought everything home and did everything imaginable to fix it. No luck. After wasting a few hours I found a thread on a Van's RV forum where lots of people were having the same problem. It started New Year's eve for some of us. XM seems to be at fault, Garmin hopes it will be fixed in a couple of days.Happy New Year Garmin 496 owners!
aerialphoto > Nov '08 - Getting ready for Thanksgiving. All the "Birthplace of Speed" banners are up. On the Friday after Thankgiving we have the "Gaslight Parade", a night parade of antique and classic cars followed by an antique car show on Saturday, not to mention the massive Turkey Rod Run car show in Daytona all four days of the weekend.

Nikon D200 w/1974-vintage MF Nikkor Q.C 135mm f/2.8
The prime-lens challenge was a month of shooting with a single dedicated prime (non-zoom) lens. I decided to use an old 1974 Nikkor 135mm manual focus lens I had in storage. After disassembling, cleaning, and rebuilding the lens I found it worked great on my D200. Not bad optics for a 34 year old lens!
aerialphoto > Afternoon rain clouds - Lake Okeechobee, Florida

Welcome to a typical Florida afternoon straight out the front of the airplane. After a long 5 hours of shooting in the Keys we headed for home, watching the storms building on radar. This line built after we passed under, and between the heavy rain showers. Another hour and we'd have turned back and stayed the night.

For those that have asked - I'm a pilot, but the aerials I shoot are done with another pilot flying the airplane
Special note to the dailies group, thanks for the kind comments - I plan to make a better effort at browsing the community pics when I get more time in the coming weeks!
